Quick collagen facts.
Think of collagen like springs in a mattress — over time the support weakens, and skin can look less firm and more creased. Sculptra helps rebuild that support.
What collagen does for your skin.
Collagen is a strong, flexible protein that acts like your skin's internal scaffolding — supporting shape, firmness, and bounce. As we age, collagen production slows and existing collagen becomes less organized, which contributes to lines, folds, and a "tired" look.
- Support — helps skin keep structure and shape
- Firmness — contributes to tighter, smoother-looking skin
- Volume — helps resist hollowing and laxity over time
- Quality — plays a role in texture and natural glow
Plain English, please.
Sculptra is made from poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biodegradable material used in medical products like dissolvable sutures. Instead of "instantly filling," it supports your skin's own collagen production over time — so results build gradually and can last longer than traditional fillers.
- Step 1 — we map your facial support needs and plan a conservative approach
- Step 2 — treatment is done over a series of visits (usually about 3 sessions, 4+ weeks apart)
- Step 3 — collagen support builds gradually; results can last up to ~2 years
A subtle refresh, long-term support, and a natural look that doesn't "announce" you had something done.
What to expect, step by step.
Sculptra is a collagen stimulator that works gradually. Here's what it treats, what to expect, and how to care for your skin afterward.
What Sculptra treats best
- Cheek wrinkles — the cheek region (where Sculptra is most studied)
- Smile lines (nasolabial folds)
- Marionette lines — the lines framing the corners of the mouth
- Chin wrinkles
When injected in the cheek region, Sculptra may also help support the look of the lower face by improving overall structural support over time.

Aftercare
After your session, massage the treated areas for 5 minutes, 5 times per day, for 5 days. This helps evenly distribute the product. We'll show you exactly how before you leave.
- Swelling — any swelling after treatment typically subsides within a few days
- Cold pack — during the first 24 hours, applying a clean cloth-wrapped cold pack for a few minutes at a time is an option. Never apply ice directly to the skin.
- Bruising — can happen with any injectable, along with mild tenderness, redness, or itching
- Sun & UV — avoid excessive sunlight and UV lamp exposure until initial redness/swelling resolves. Use sunscreen.
- Makeup — if there are no complications, makeup may be applied several hours after treatment
- Follow-ups matter — Sculptra isn't a one-and-done treatment. Keep your follow-up sessions to achieve your full result.

We'll talk through what's realistic for your face, timeline, and comfort level during your consultation.
Sculptra & GLP-1 changes.
Some people notice unexpected facial changes after significant weight loss — like hollowness, sagging, and deeper folds. This relates to changes in facial fat support and overall skin structure. Sculptra is often chosen because it builds support gradually for a natural-looking result.
- Volume support — addresses the "hollow" look over time
- Skin quality — supports firmness and glow gradually
- Natural appearance — builds without an "overfilled" look
We map what changed, prioritize balance, and choose a plan that fits your timeline — sometimes collagen stimulation alone, sometimes thoughtfully combined with other approaches.
Sculptra questions, answered.
When do results start?
Sculptra builds gradually. Many people begin noticing changes as early as 1 month, with continued improvement as collagen support develops over time. Typical treatment is about 3 sessions, spaced at least 3–4+ weeks apart.
How long does Sculptra last?
Results can last up to ~2 years for many clients. We'll review what's realistic for your goals and timeline during your consultation.
How many vials will I need?
Vial count is personalized and depends on your starting point and goals. On average, people complete 2–3 sessions over a few months, and the number of vials per session varies based on the plan you and your provider decide together. For example, one client used 3 vials over 2 sessions — yours may be different.
What is the 5–5–5 massage rule?
To help evenly distribute the product, follow the 5–5–5 rule: massage the treated areas for 5 minutes, 5 times per day, for 5 days. We'll demonstrate the technique before you leave.
Can Sculptra be combined with filler and/or Botox?
Yes — depending on your goals, Sculptra can be combined thoughtfully with Botox and/or hyaluronic acid filler. Botox can help relax strong muscle pull, filler can add targeted structure quickly, and Sculptra supports longer-term collagen and overall skin quality. We'll guide the safest timing and sequence for a natural look.
Is Sculptra good after weight loss or GLP-1 changes?
It can be a great option if you've noticed facial hollowing, sagging, or deeper folds after significant weight loss. Sculptra is often chosen because it builds support gradually for a natural-looking result — sometimes on its own, and sometimes combined thoughtfully with other approaches depending on what changed.
How does Sculptra differ from regular filler?
Traditional fillers (like the Juvéderm HA fillers we use) add volume immediately and last 1–2 years. Sculptra works differently — it stimulates your body's own collagen production over time. Results build gradually but can last up to 2 years, and the support feels structural rather than additive.
